Well, we FINALLY got our front yard put in! Everyone has been asking me what it looks like so I thought I would write a post about it. We decided we wanted to do something different this time, so we went for an island. We absolutely had to have the aspen fir/charlie brown trees in the front. Unfortunatly, one of our trees was stricken with scoliosis and had to be "removed". (I am not making fun of anyone with scoliosis, nor do I have any idea how to spell it!) Our landscaper tried to convince me that they were "very popular" and "everyone wants the ones that are crooked". Well, I am happy to report that I resisted the peer pressure and told him the tree had to go. The backyard is another story....they have this funny rule that if you can't pay them for a beautiful backyard, then you can't have one. So, we had it hand seeded and are waiting and waiting for the grass to grow. I think it's like the saying about a watched pot...
I also am going to start a garden next year. I am giving into the peer pressure on that one...EVERYBODY really IS doing it!! Unfortunately, this is what happened this year when I tried to grow lettuce.
Next year I will have to call in reinforcements, namely Daralee, Queen of the Garden!

How funny, I love those replacement fir (?) trees. What kind exactly are they? I would love some in our backyard. I do love aspens too but I have heard they get "sick" pretty easily. I guess birches are a comparable substitute.
You should see my garden planters of weeds. It is prize-winning, really. This year I am working on the interior. I say next year I work on the outside of our house.
All of the little trees in the front are Aspen Firs, but I like to call them Charlie Brown trees!
Oh, I read that wrong (the part about the trees). So much for my reading comprehension skills. Now what am I going to brag about?
