"Basketball Season Ends on High Note for Hornets"

Tyler has just finished up his basketball season with Upwards. It was a great "season" (like 8 weeks) and we were even a little sad that it was over. Upwards does some really neat things with the kids. Before the start of every game they have the parents line up and then then have the kids run out one at a time. They run out through the tunnel, there is a smoke machine, and an announcer that announces each kids name. That was my favorite part! The kids would then run through all the people that had formed the lines and slap every one's hands as they ran through. It was a very positive experience!

The Team

Tyler in "action". Notice the pictures are blurry because he is just so fast!

They would say a prayer as teams before the start of the game...

The Ref's were great. (I swear this guy is like 7 feet tall. In fact most of the pictures with him and Tyler in it cut off the top half of his body because he is just so tall!) They did a really good job and would even tell the kids what they did wrong, so they knew for next time.

Look at that form!

On the last practice, the coaches had the parents play against the kids. Well, Todd wasn't there, so that left me, wearing slip on clog like shoes. It was like 5 adults against 10, full of energy,
wild kids. It was fun. It was hot. I sucked.

After each game the kids were given stars. Each one was a different color and meant something different: Best defense, best offense, most Christ-like, etc. I was "supposed to" iron on each of the stars on his shirt. Some of them made it on, some didn't...so sue me.

The coaches did a great job and it was a wonderful experience.

See ya next year. Now on to baseball...

That bball program looks so cool. But not as cool the picture of you playing defense. We could have used you on the YW basketball team this last fall.

Oh my hilarious, I'm trying to stop laughing right now. That photo of the Ref next to Tyler is so funny. That guy is so tall! I'm glad he didn't step on any of the kids. I am so impressed that you went and played, despite wearing bad shoes. Go PENNY!

I loved the perfectly coiffed Penny hair flowing in the breeze as you guarded the kids. Awesome.

How did Todd get out of that one? Although, it would be fun to play against the kids.... as long as you looked better than them :)
